D-Tect in its efforts to provide its international clients with easier communication has compiled a list of suitably qualified foreign language experts who have already proved their worth in day to day examples of the requirement for interpretation skills. We have used this service to interpret documents, hand written letters and also in interviewing witnesses, insurance claimants or researching covertly taped conversations.
Currently we can provide interpreters in the following languages:
Italian, Spanish, German, Dutch, French, Urdu, Swahili, Punjabi and Turkish. Rates will be provided depending on the time involved and whether or not the case is likely to go before a court.
*Mystery Shopping
This is a useful exercise that can assist our clients in identifying perceived problems within their business. It may be a chain of stores or premises such as licenced premises within a large group. Our operatives are equipped if necessary, with covet video and audio recording devices. They operate as a typical customer, either making enquiries or making a purchase.
The information gleaned during these exercises may include not only the customer service aspects, but such things Health and Safety issues on the premises for both staff and the public. There may also be areas involving the security of the premises, or crime prevention issues that may need resolving that are beneficial to the client in that armed with such information may prevent litigious actions in the future.
Our instructions in the past have included purchasing and testing alcohol measures in a large chain of wine bars where staff may be supplying short measures and defrauding the company. Others have involved the hire of electrical industrial equipment to check if it is compliant with Health and Safety. Whilst conducting this exercise, we also conducted a covert assessment of security, dress code of staff, and general running of the premises.
*Expert Witnesses
We are able to provide expert witnesses in incidents involving Anti Social Behaviour, drug misuse, gang disorder, wilful damage, bullying and other many other unlawful incidents on housing estates or other public places.
We have acted for local councils and private clients in respect of this sort of activity and provided valuable support in eradicating the problems for local residents and local businesses, where Police support has been minimal or non-existent.
We are able to observe and record these incidents using various forms of technology including covet surveillance equipment, video and audio for example, and then support our observations with professional witness statements fro our operatives.

*Specialist Drug Detection Dogs
We are increasingly being requested to provide advice and solutions to workplace drug abuse, which can be potentially a danger not only to the abuser, but to other staff or workplace personnel. A drug abuser engaged in the workplace on heavy machinery for instance, could be affected to an extent whereby he is affected by the drugs and causes an accident. This could be a minor accident or in some case has been known to lead to loss of life.
A business owner requires Health & Safety measures in place as a matter of law but those H & S requirements can be severely tested by such drug abusers as on most occasions they can be undetectable without on the spot drug testing. This can be time consuming and lead to loss of production in a lot of cases and is also open to abuse by those being tested unless testing is done in a tightly controlled and clinical environment - not something that is always available. Some of those submitting to say urine tests, have developed a system of using ‘clean’colleagues to do the test for them and hand them the ‘clean’ sample to produce to the testers. There is a lot of ingenuity out there when it comes to being discovered or being able to evade the detection.
Specially trained drugs detection dogs can be a cost effective and easy to apply method of maintaining both a ‘clean’ drug free workforce and added protection against abuse withinthe confines of your business premises and even extending to your company vehicles. A drugs detection dog can locate the smallest amount of a controlled drug within minutes sometimes, all without having to disrupt the workplace. Such a dog is trained not do anything other than indicate where any evidence of drugs are located. This can take the form of, for instance, an employee with a controlled substance in his pockets or a work surface where say cocaine had been used. The dog will STOP in its tracks as soon as it has detected the drugs. It will not touch either the location of the discovery, or even the person who may be carrying the drug, or has done sorecently. The dog is so well trained so as to prevent any contamination from the dog to the drug or area where it has been detected.
Drugs searches can be done so as not to obstruct the work on-going in the workplace and can be over and done within a short time, all depending on the size of area to be searched. If by chance an employee is detected as carrying a controlled drug, then its up to the employer as to what action he or she takes. Any drug recovered will be handed to the Police or destroyed immediately depending on the circumstances.
